Director's Biography

MARCUS SIM was born in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1981. After six short months there, he moved with his parents to London, England, where they resided for a year before moving again to Malaysia. He grew up in a working-class Chinese neighbourhood on the eastern state of Sarawak where he attended elementary and secondary schools.

In 1997, he moved to British Columbia, Canada where he completed his secondary education. He then enrolled in classes at University of British Columbia and completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in film studies. In addition to that, he took film, video and photography courses at Capilano College, North Vancouver and took more film courses at the Dov S – S Simens Hollywood Film School.

Since then he’s produced, directed and written two romantic comedies. ‘SAM AND JESSIE’, a feature, played at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, and ‘AN OFFER’, a short film, played at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, New Asia Film Festival, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and was the winner at the 2006 Mighty Asian Movie Marathon.

After taking a three year break, he came back into the film scene with his most recent work, ‘FANG HUNTERS’, a suspense/ drama short film about vampire poachers.

As an actor, he’s had roles ranging from principal to supporting in several domestic and foreign productions including Dragon Boys, Smallville, Dark Angel and Walking Shadow.
